Attribution window

An attribution window is how long after a click or a view a sale still counts for the ad.

The attribution model decides which ad gets the credit when a person saw several; the window decides how long after a click or a view a sale still counts. Each is one of the five settings the semantic layer names in the description of each version of revenue, with gross or net, the counting date, and tracking.

Attributed revenue from ad platforms or site analytics compares channels and campaigns, and it is fine once the definition names the rule and the window, so every tool applies the same credit. The store's or the finance system's number is what the business actually booked.

Example

Pinterest's Conversion insights report shows 1-day view and 30-day click when no window is set. Meta reports default values based on each advertiser's attribution setting, with other click and view windows also available. Each setting counts a different set of sales for the same ads.
